The Magic of Goodbye and Hello

There is power and magic in saying both goodbye and hello.
On our life journey, we share a never-ending cycle of life and death. Life is a process of saying “good-bye” and saying “hello” to new realities. As we raise our children, we see them grow and the new growth means letting go of the way they were, the way we were.
Pounding Nails & Building Walls – One Woman’s Birthday Party
Category: Inspiration CornerThe quiet chatter coming from the basement of the St. Joseph’s Rectory, Maplewood, NJ comes to a halt as Co-Chair, Lynn Blasser, leads a small group of women in simple prayer -a prayer for guidance and strength.
Lynn is Co-Chair of Women Build of Newark, NJ, a program of Habitat for Humanity International, which promotes the involvement of women in the funding and construction of Habitat homes. The group empowers women as they address the issue of substandard housing. It is clear that this group of women possesses both the drive and skill needed to raise the walls for a family in need of affordable housing.

Sundays are my day of rest. While I don’t take the day off completely-there are still dishes to wash and the never-ending loads of laundry that a family of four accumulates, I do try to keep the day “loose”. If you’re throwing a kids’ birthday party on this day, you won’t see the Perillo clan there. Sundays are about family and we’ll make exceptions only for the very closest of friends.
One thing I do love doing with such friends is brunch. Forget the lines and rushed service at restaurants. Not only is it better to chill at home and let the kids run crazy, but brunch is one of my favorite meals to cook.
Get the Skinny on Your Wardrobe

Everyone has a favorite pair of blue jeans. You know the pair. The faded fabric has worn to a soft texture and they fit like they were designed specifically for you. They are the jeans you wore to your son’s baseball game when he hit his first homerun and you went hoarse from cheering. You wore them to the concert in the park on your anniversary date last summer.
Donning these jeans is like slipping into a warm bath. It is disheartening when after a long day your plans include these denim friends and a glass of wine on the patio; yet, when you go to pull them on, you find you have to suck in your breath-or worse-lay on the bed to wrestle them on.
