If your baby is anything like my son, then he or she will put anything into his or her mouth, and when I say anything, I mean ANYTHING! Since my son started teething, I catch him putting all kinds of things in his mouth. Strange things, too, like the dog’s squeaker (yuck!), drawer knobs, the wooden floor molding, and occasionally his pacifier! As a product reviewer for Chic Mom Magazine, I recently had the opportunity to review the Smart Mom’s Teething Bling® pendant. The necklace is chewable! A teething-ring that you can wear around your neck that doubles as fashionable jewelry –... (Read More ...)
When I think of Australian Gold products my mind drifts back to my first job in high school. I worked at a fitness club that had tanning beds and there was a huge display of Australian Gold products that were always the victim of little kids running through the lobby. I spent many hours rearranging that display so the little koala bear in their logo will always remain a familiar face. I received a sample of their new orange mint flavored lip balm in the mail last week and have been using it daily, especially since the change in weather is making my skin extra dry. I love this lip balm –... (Read More ...)
If there’s one guarantee for the coming holiday season, it’s that the latest electronics will be at the top of nearly every child’s wish list. Last year’s most-requested item was the Apple iPad, and with the long-awaited iPhone 5 scheduled to land sometime this fall, it’s likely that Apple will have another lucrative mid-winter gift season. Other manufacturers of popular electronics — Samsung, Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, Motorola, HTC, Nikon, Canon, etc. — will not be far behind. But parents thinking about microchip-laden presents need to do some homework... (Read More ...)
On Thanksgiving, many Americans are preoccupied with turkeys, parades, football games, and even Black Friday sales. It seems that over time, this holiday has become more about getting things—whether that’s food, entertainment, or bargains—than about giving thanks for what we already have. (And really, that’s just a reflection of our society’s general gimme-gimme-gimme attitude.) If you’re like most parents, you don’t want your kids to grow up focused solely on themselves, concerned only with the latest video game or with how they can get their way. You want them to feel genuine gratitude... (Read More ...)
When the seasons change and the weather turns cold, rainy, snowy and WINTERISH…my shoe selection changes (because I am forced to pack away my flip flops). I live in my boots! They have to not only be stylish, but durable & WARM! So, when I had the opportunity to review a pair of “McKenna” Style Boots (“CITY” line) from BOGS, I was curious if they would meet my test of quality, of trendiness and if they would bring my feet the PURE JOY necessary to get me through the next few months of cold rough winter weather. To put it mildly…OH MY BOGS! ... (Read More ...)
This Thanksgiving, help your children to follow in the footsteps of the holiday’s original Pilgrim and Native American celebrants by giving generously to others. Reviewed by Chic Mom Product Reviewer, Laura Woeste. I knew I was staring at my new best friend after opening the package of chicBuds Fauvette Gold Earbuds. First of all, the earphones I’ve been currently using have seen better days and anytime an incoming call came in I’ve had to remove the buds so I could talk into the phone. Not only are these snazzy little buds great for listening, but they also have a microphone so you can talk hands-free. I’ve never been big on driving while on my cell, especially with my three kids in the car, but let’s face it – sometimes it’s the... (Read More ...)
Worried about germs affecting your travel plans? Who likes getting sick when they arrive at their destination? Especially when they are going on vacation or a business trip? Being stuck in an airplane is a cesspool for germs. Think about it, depending on how long your flight is…you’re stuck with coughing, sneezing, hand touching germs until your plane lands. I just learned about a product I tested out on my airplane ride from here to San Diego this past August (when I headed to Blogher). I definitely didn’t want to get sick when I got there. So I used NOZIN Nasal... (Read More ...)
Think baby showers are just for moms? Not anymore! The “Daddy Shower” is the latest trend hitting the scene, allowing the daddy-to-be to be “showered” with gifts and fun as well. The first decision is “who is going to throw” the BSFD. For the mommy it is usually the best friend, mother, or mother in-law, or combination of the above. For the Daddy, this role has not yet been established and quite often it is simply put together by a pro-active daddy for his friends, but here are some thoughts if you are the “best Dad friend” and want to put the party together. Robert Nickell,... (Read More ...)
