How many “Happy New Years” did you hear on January 1? How many did you cheerfully toss out? And now that the confetti is swept up and the champagne bottles discarded, how happy are you…really? If you’re like most people, you’re likely stressing about holiday credit card bills, the impending tax season, and whether or not you’ll accomplish all the goals you didn’t accomplish last year. But you don’t have to merely exist and survive, says intuitive psychologist Susan Apollon. If you are like the millions who are constantly tossed on waves of stress, anxiety,... (Read More ...)

Chic Mom Product Reviewer, Kerry Ullery received a sample of Wildskins. Here’s what she had to say: “All of the ‘women’ (including my 12 year old daughter!!) tried out Wildskins. Here are the results: 12 year old Grace – Cute! But not very warm. I love the pockets, but wish the sleeves were a little longer. (Grace fought me for the super bright Hawaiian print ones, and really enjoyed wearing them.) My sister, who is a fashion brand specific lady thought these were ‘super cute.” My mother in law, age 60, really liked them and loved the sort material. She thought they were really... (Read More ...)

Just because you are divorced doesn’t mean the holidays take a break as well.  It is important for your children and for you that you make your own traditions as the new family unit that you now are.  The mom and dad watching the kids opening gifts on Christmas morning may not exist anymore, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the holidays in a whole new way.  Whether you have your children or not over the holidays, here are several tips to get you back on the right track and into the holiday spirit after divorce. I’ve never tried any organic body products before so I was excited to try the new and improved pure natural hair care shampoo and conditioner by Jason, as well as Crème de la Shave by Aubrey Organics. I have long, thick hair and I will admit that I’m kind of picky about what I wash my precious locks with. I don’t typically wash my hair every day, so the products that I use need to deliver what they promise. I have used both the Volumizing Lavendar shampoo and Color Protect Henna conditioner on my hair for the past two weeks and have been pleasantly surprised with their performance. First... (Read More ...)

If you are a mom like me, I like to think I have some sort of style.  At times that idea of fashion tends to get lost in the land of sweatpants and college t-shirts as I take on the care of my little ones.   Having young children can suck the fashion-sense right out of you, but Annie Fink Designs has designed the perfect accessory to add a little flair to an everyday “mom” outfit.   With autumn in full swing and winter closing in behind, Annie Fink arm sleeves offer a great way to add a pop of color to an everyday outfit while also staying warm.  Each sleeve has a little heart on it... (Read More ...)

Instead of unwrapping another piece of Halloween candy this afternoon I decided to open the new BusyFit DVD I received in the mail this week. The kids were all napping and it seemed like a good time to sneak in a workout, especially since this one promised to be perfect for those who are pressed for time…and let’s face it, who isn’t? In 25 minutes, the BusyFit workout is designed to burn fat, strengthen muscles, increase endurance and increase core strength. The only equipment you need for the program is a pair of hand weights – 20 lb. weights were used in this video but I opted to stick... (Read More ...)

This year, we will experience the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th year of the century – all triggered in a 24-hour period. In numerology, the number 1 represents new beginnings, so 11 symbolizes “double new beginnings.” On this date, everything in your life can be renewed and transformed. Author of The Unrevealed Secrets of Political Success: How Names and Numbers Shape United States History, Tania Gabrielle offers her take on the meaning of 11/11/11 and what it will bring about as a celebrity numerologist. In asking what exactly numerology and astrology consist of, Tania said that... (Read More ...)

Since the temperature is getting colder, I am dedicating this week’s post to one of my favorite fabrics: cashmere!  Cashmere is not only classic, versatile and incredibly soft,  but also seasonless and belongs in every wardrobe.  What’s so great about cashmere is that you can dress it up or down, or pair it with jeans, leggings or a skirt. This cashmere wrap  is my absolute favorite in my collection. It is versatile enough to keep you cozy and warm in the winter layered over a long sleeve top and will not be too heavy on a chilly summer night.  you can leave it loose or belt it at the... (Read More ...)
