You Can Change the World

“Be the change you want to see in the world,” Ghandi said…what exactly did he mean by saying those words? Is it possible for anyone to change the world?
The truth is that change must begin with every one of us. Nothing would ever get done if we all waited for someone else to take the first step. All change starts with the individual who has an idea and who acts on that idea.
You don’t have to be an activist or rich and famous to have an impact on the world. There are small changes you can make in your life every day to create a ripple effect of change. Here are three simple ways you can begin.
1. Focus on what you do want – your thoughts create your world. Choose thoughts that are congruent with the outcome you want for yourself. If you don’t know what you want then first start with what you don’t want. It’s ok to not know. Empty yourself of all the things you don’t want and then start looking for the opposite. Once you discover what you are passionate about, grab onto it and let it take you on the journey you are meant to experience.
2. Reasons vs. Results – which side of this equation are you on? Have you set goals in the past and not reached them? Were you on your way and some obstacle came up and you decided that the goal was unreachable so you quit? Focusing on the reasons why you couldn’t achieve something will never get you the results you dream about. The easiest way to achieve a goal is to look at obstacles as opportunities for learning and celebrate them because you know you are on the road to the goal.
If you have an idea that you think will create a better life for you and those around you, then act on it! Don’t just sit there and think about it! Get up and take the first step and every day take additional steps to make it happen.
3. Ecology of your actions – when setting a goal and deciding to pursue it look at whether your actions will be good for you, your family, your community and the planet. Notice if the end result feels, sounds, and looks right. When you start evaluating what you do from these perspectives it is easy to make the right choice.
When you take responsibility for your actions, you live a more balanced and congruent life. You don’t find excuses for not reaching your goals. Instead, you learn at every opportunity and make course corrections along the way. You know that an obstacle means you are well on your way to where you are meant to go.
At one point you just have to go out and plough that field because thinking about it will not get the work done. Rain or shine, follow your results, give up your excuses, and start changing your world into what you want. And notice how the rest of the world follows suit.
Three Blessings that Forgiveness Brings

February’s here, and it’s time to evaluate how your New Year’s Resolutions are going. How’s it going? Did you make New Year’s Resolutions for 2010?
This new decade is an opportunity to do in life what you’ve always wanted to do; to be who you’ve always dreamed you could be; to let go of the old habits and grudges and to open yourself to new ways of thinking and being.
Forgiveness can play an integral part in ushering in these new changes that you create for yourself. It will allow you to truly cut ties with any bonds from your past and focus on creating your future and living in the present.
Self Defense Against Distractions

Distraction is presence without awareness.
Predators love an attractive subject. And no, being an attractive subject has nothing to do with being good-looking. An attractive subject is someone who looks like easy prey. While there are many adjectives to describe an attractive subject, one that tops the list is distracted. Distraction is presence without awareness. The opposite of attractive, of course, is unattractive, and in terms of predator selection, the “uglier” the better. Also known as a difficult subject (someone whom a predator would rather not deal with), those who demonstrate “unattractive” qualities are those who are aware of their surroundings.
Lady Gaga: The Fame – FULL Review

Gwen Stefani decided to be a cheerleader and landed at #1 with “Hollaback Girl”. Katy Perry “Kissed A Girl” and landed at #1. Britney Spears’ comeback single “Womanizer” placed her at the penthouse. Pop-tarts seem to come and go, but always score a couple of hit singles, with at least one of those landing at the penthouse. For Lady Gaga, she’s had two #1 singles and third single that has landed in the top 5 that should probably have ended up at #1. Who is this “lady” who one of my friends called an “alien”, particularly after that bright pink, bubbly, nude Rolling Stone cover. Who is the real Stefani Germanotta that goes by this Lady Gaga persona and why do people care so much? Well, people care because Gaga seeks to change the face of pop music, as all pop starlets hope to do and it’s a feat that she has easily conquered.
