February’s here, and it’s time to evaluate how your New Year’s Resolutions are going. How’s it going? Did you make New Year’s Resolutions for 2010?
This new decade is an opportunity to do in life what you’ve always wanted to do; to be who you’ve always dreamed you could be; to let go of the old habits and grudges and to open yourself to new ways of thinking and being.
Forgiveness can play an integral part in ushering in these new changes that you create for yourself. It will allow you to truly cut ties with any bonds from your past and focus on creating your future and living in the present.
Journey Into Self Defense

Before beginning my journey as a self-defense instructor, I took a personal inventory of what I knew about it. I can assure you it wasn’t very much. I didn’t give self-defense training any serious consideration until my firstborn was four months old. That’s when it dawned on me. How could I protect my child if I couldn’t even protect myself?
While it’s true a mother can be very ferocious when it comes to protecting her child, it (figuratively) hit me when I had an infant that I really didn’t know how to fight back. I thought about what I might do, but would it actually work outside my mind and without proper training? This not knowing was rather uncomfortable. Actually, it was down right frightening. I realized then that I felt vulnerable, weak, and ultimately defenseless. That child is now 12, and these feelings have lead to a very satisfying career in self-defense training.

The Magic of Goodbye and Hello

There is power and magic in saying both goodbye and hello.
On our life journey, we share a never-ending cycle of life and death. Life is a process of saying “good-bye” and saying “hello” to new realities. As we raise our children, we see them grow and the new growth means letting go of the way they were, the way we were.
